ASH!? First up, from our good pals over at MTI, comes the follow up from the makers of the Anna Nicole Smith chuckle-fest ILLEGAL ALIENS… Small-town mechanic Jake finds himself in an unsavory position when a parasitic infection turns the towns inhabitants into zombiefied ghouls – and he’s stuck with his ex-girlfriend and her new gun-lovin’ boy toy!!! Can they survive until help arrives? Probably not, but it’ll be a hell of a ride to find out… ZOMBIE TOWN comes to DVD November 20, featuring behind-the-scenes features, commentary and trailers. Starring Brynn Lucas, Adam Hose and ILLEGAL ALIENS hilarious Dennis Lemoine, ZOMBIE TOWN looks like a campy zombie funfest that shouldn’t be missed.Next on tap, Tempe DVD has announced their EVILMAKER Double Feature DVD for release on December 18, just in time to help liven up your holidays! In THE EVILMAKER a group of reunited high school pals find themselves at the mercy of the mysterious, powerful and altogether eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil title character, when they (say it with me now…) wander into an abandoned house after their car breaks down on a deserted back road. The follow up film, ABOMINATION: EVILMAKER II picks up with the family of the victims of the first film looking for answers and finding… (bum-bum-buuuuuuuum) THE EVILMAKER!!! This one includes commentary and featurettes on both films, a blooper reel and the requisite Tempe Trailer collection. Now begins the onslaught of Anchor Bay madness!!!First, next week – October 23! – catch Anchor Bay and International Media Films’ release of THE MARIO BAVA COLLECTION: VOLUME 2, featuring no less than 8 of the masters great films. Adapted from a short story by Japanese horror author Koji Suzuki, DREAM CRUISE tells the story of an American lawyer in Japan, hiding his crippling fear of the ocean. When he becomes involved with a clients wife and finds himself on a sunset boat ride with her and the husband, things get significantly uncomfortable. This one, as all MOH releases will have a 1.78:1 AW transfer, audio commentary, a making-of featurette, photo galleries and a DVD-Rom script.Wrapping up the second season of MASTERS OF HORROR on DVD, Ernest Dickerson’s THE V-WORD debuts on disc December 11. This old-school fright-fest features a pair of geeky teen pals who unwittingly unleash the vampiric undead terror of (you guessed it!) MICHAEL IRONSIDE! THE V-WORD will also be presented in 1.78:1 AW with commentary, 2 featurettes, a photo gallery and the DVD-Rom script. Also on December 11, Anchor Bay unleashes the holiday cheer of the 1984 slasher opus SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, the best rampaging psycho Santa with a bloody axe flick since the tin woodman hacked up the munchkins in THE WIZARD OF OZ… This legendary teen slasher entry tells the story of poor little Billy who sees his parents butchered by an escaped nuthouse patient in a Santa suit. Flash forward to the good ‘ol 80’s and Billy is working in a department store and struggling with his traumatic childhood and lifelong abuse at the hands of the orphanage nuns (it’s always the damned nuns!) When his boss insists Billy fill in for the injured store Santa, it’s only a matter of time before the nubile young hotties (including Super Scream Queen Linnea Quigley) start piling up… in pieces! SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT comes in a very pretty new box with trailers, TV spots and an interview with director Charles E. Sellier Jr.December 18 brings the 372nd version of Sam Raimi’s original THE EVIL DEAD to DVD from Anchor Bay. This 25th ANNIVERSARY ULTIMATE EDITION, will feature the legendary story of Ash, hapless hero and nemesis of the deadites, and his neverending quest to end the evil of the necronomicon. The 3-disc (yes. 3. discs. count em’) will feature a new widescreen transfer of the film, along with a full-frame presentation, untold numbers of featurettes, behind-the-scenes footage and extra value meal items. There will be commentary from Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert on the Widescreen version and Bruce Campbell commentary on the full-frame. Disc three is nothin’ but extras… and word has it… there are some very rare and tasty easter eggs made of the finest 13th century Belgian chocolate…Finally, also on December 18, the very widely-hyped and well-marketed indie horror flick HATCHET from director Adam green. This is the slasher homage that everyone and their Grandma were praising as the greatest horror flick in the last 800 years. It follows the story of a bunch of turistas lost in the Louisianna bayou who stumble upon the rage-filled slasher Victor Crowley, who was born horribly deformed and then turned into a piece of chicken fried steak during a horrendous Halloween prank. Starring Kane Hodder, Robert Englund and Joel David Moore (Owen from DODGEBALL). This unrated disc will feature a 1.78:1 AW transfer audio commentary aplenty, a making-of doc, several additional featurettes, Green recounting his friendship with Dee Snider (yes, that Dee Snider, from TWISTED SISTER), a gag reel and theatrical trailer. An R-rated theatrical version will also be available with significantly fewer extras.
