NEWS FOR THE 6th DAY of AUGUST!!!

SCOOBY DOO will make his live-action debut on DVD on October 15. No details have been released as of yet, but the disc will be available in both Fullscreen and Widescreen.

BBC TV hit THE YOUNG ONES will be released as THE YOUNG ONES: EVERY STOOPID EPISODE on September 17th. The english ‘twit-com’ features live performances by bands including Motorhead, Dexy’s Midnight Runners and Madness as well as guest appearances by Emma Thompson, Robbie Coltrane and more. The 3-disc set will contain all fifteen episodes of the series in the original full-screen ratio with a DDS 5.1 sound mix. Extras will include featurettes, pilot episodes and talent files.

Spoofmeister General Christopher Guest’s assault on the film industry, THE BIG PICTURE, will be unleashed on DVD on October 8. Kevin Bacon stars in this hilarious satire of Hollywoods player system. The film will be featured in Anamorphic Widescreen and Fullscreen transfers. Extras will include a commentary by Guest and Bacon, deleted scenes, filmographies, production notes and a theatrical trailer.

Eclectic DVD and Waterfall Entertainment are producing a new 60 minute do*censored*entary DVD on the life and times of Bruce Lee entitled BRUCE LEE: THE LEGEND LIVES ON. The do*censored*entary will feature early footage of Bruce, as well as later footage of him teaching Jeet Kune Do and explaining his One-inch Punch technique. Also included are interviews with such students and friends as James Coburn, Bob Wall, Van Williams, Jackie Chan, Bruce’s brother Robert, and archival interviews with Bruce’s late son Brandon Lee. The disc will feature 5.1 DDS and will be available October 1.

The TV movie reunion I SPY RETURNS, from 1994, will be released on DVD October 8 by Columbia Tristar. The film features the reunion of Robert Culp and Bill Cosby as agents Robinson and Scott from the popular 60’s spy-spoof series.

Walt Disney Studios will follow up their succesful TREASURES series from last year with new additions coming out for December 3, just in time for Christmas stockings everywhere. THE COMPLETE GOOFY will follow the much -loved and accident-prone character starting with his first appearance 70 years ago. Also include will be Animators references, theatrical posters, a gallery of Goofy memorabilia and info on the behind the scenes voices of Goofy, including interviews with the current Goofy, Bill Farmer.

MICKEY MOUSE IN BLACK AND WHITE follows the titular rodent on his journey from 1928’s Steamboat Willie to the last black-and-white short 1935’s Mickey’s Service Station. This installment will feature animator interviews and early pencil tests and sketches.

Finally, there wil be BEHIND THE SCENES AT WALT DISNEY STUDIOS, as Walt himself takes you inside the walls of Disney Studios in 1937 and brings us right up to date on the newest additions and techniques.

All three discs will feature introductions by Leonard Maltin and will feature their original audio and video mixes.

HBO’s hit miniseries BAND OF BROTHERS will be marching onto DVD on November 5. The six-disc set willfeature an Anamorphic widescreen transfer and both DDS and DTS 5.1 sound. Extras will include the feature-length do*censored*entary WE STAND ALONE TOGETHER: THE MEN OF EASY COMPANY, a 30 minute behind the scenes featurette, Ron Livingstons video diary, footage from the Normandy Beach premiere and a field guide with references.

Universal will release LAW&ORDER – SEASON ONE as a six-disc set on October 15. Details have not been released yet, but look for them here…

Three more Criterion sets are going out of print…
The three Jacques Tati films – PLAYTIME, MON ONCLE and M.HULOT’S HOLIDAY have all been put out of print and are now considered collectibles.
